How to Reach Out to Friendly Groups
There are many local groups throughout the United States which share similar values and support the Constitution and our personal liberties as protected by the Bill of Rights. These groups have local meeting halls and buildings where their members get together. They are part of their national organizations who usually have active lobbying organizations in Washington and the 50 state capitols. Contact as many of these local groups as you can. Go to their national web site and locate a local chapter using their search-by-zip code function. Optionally, give their national office a phone call. They often post their toll-free telephone numbers. Try the membership departments and the outreach coordinators. And while you're at it, have them mail you a package of materials about their organization, and what they're presently doing to support freedom and the Constitution. Many of these organizations will also have meeting rooms that they can make available to you and your local Patriot group for free! In fact, holding your meetings in, say the local American Legion hall will be well received. You can reach out to their members by inviting them to attend and by making presentations to their own membership at their next meeting. Let's take a look at the American Legion. Most of the Legion's members are retired. Out of, perhaps 500 members, usually only a few will regularly attend meetings. Strategy: invite them all to attend a special meeting where you can introduce your group. Show a DVD documentary or series of YouTube video clips followed by an open discussion of your activities and call for support and action. You will be pleasantly surprised by the positive response. In fact, based on first-hand experience, Legion members are just waiting for such an opportunity as fellow patriots to chip in and lend a hand. And since most members of the American Legion are retired, many of them have time available to get on the telephone and work the Internet as as come out to take part in public demonstrations and events. They will also be fearless. After all, they've been to war and risked their lives to save America. They will be proud to do it again at home - if you only ask them. So action item #1 is: call one or more of your local American Legion halls and speak to them about what your group is doing - and how you need their help! Here are the top friendly local groups to reach out to:
